How Will I Feel Being Needled and Any Side Effects?
-
A brief prick or sting sensation when needle is inserted into muscles.
-
Slight soreness, numbness, distention, or heaviness during needle retention.
-
The needle sensation goes away in a few minutes to a couple of hours after the treatment.
-
Acupuncture is both safe and effective—even for pregnant women.
-
It is also used by other health professionals, e.g. physiotherapists, chiropractors, and massage therapists.
-
Unlike prescribed drugs, acupuncture does not produce side effects.
How Does Acupuncture Work?
-
Acupuncture needles stimulate the nervous system, sending signals to the brain that readjusts the body’s functions and activates its natural healing processes.
-
Thin needles stimulate muscles and connective tissues, which triggers the body's natural pain-relief mechanisms and promotes the release of endorphins and other chemicals that reduce pain and inflammation.
-
Acupuncture aims to rebalance the flow of Qi, a vital life force or energy.
-
Qi flows through pathways called meridians. Needles are inserted into specific points (acupoints) along these meridians, to help Qi move more easily through the body.
Acupuncture treats the patient holistically, NOT only a single disease.
Note:
All therapies have risks as well as benefits. Please let the acupuncturist know if you have bleeding disorder or takes blood thinners and she will take extra caution.
Facial Acupuncture:
look younger, feel better
What is facial acupuncture?
A safe, non-surgical, and a drug-free way to reduce the signs of aging. It is a holistic anti-aging treatment addressing the balance of the whole body, helping you to look younger and feel better.
What can facial acupuncture do?
• Brighten and smooth your complexion
• Improve the circulation of the face, help tissues detox, reduce puffiness
• Reduce fine lines and help preserve elasticity of your skin
• Promote new tissue formation and collagen production
• Lift and tone the skin, promote symmetry, improve face shape
• Induce relaxation and reduce stress
• Body points are also added to balance hormones and improve health of other organ systems
What does the treatment involve?
Insertion of very fine facial acupuncture needles into specific points on the face and neck, with body points added to correlate with your individual needs. The whole treatment takes about 75 minutes, including eyelid cupping, face-neck-body needling and shoulder-to-crown massage. The needle retention is about 25 minutes.
How long is a treatment course, and when should I expect to see results?
A standard course of treatment is 10 individual sessions. Ideally, they are completed in succession once a week for the best results. Effects are often noticed within the first 4 treatments.
How long do the effects last?
Every person is different, and the length of effect is dependent on serval factors including age, health of the skin, and your general health. Results have potential to last from 1 to 5 years. Maintenance treatments are usually performed once per month or seasonally to maximize longevity of results.
